- Joanna Roldan-Guerrero is Creating Confident Smiles and Stronger Futures for All
Creating Confident Smiles and Stronger Futures for All (Joanna's story was recorded and will be shown during our intermission and live on our YouTube Channel) Joanna Roldan embodies quiet strength and determination. As a dental assistant student, she’s learning that oral health care is about more than perfect teeth—it’s about teamwork, empathy, and confronting internal bias. Her path reflects the resilience of a young woman of color who has learned to work twice as hard to reach her goals and uplift others along the way. A Journey of Growth With over eight years in customer service, Joanna brings adaptability, organization, and foresight to every setting. These qualities guide her not only in the dental field but also in her community work. For the past two years, she has served on the Middleton Commission on Youth , helping local teens discover job and leadership opportunities. Joanna’s journey is one of growth and giving back. She sees her future in dentistry as a way to create comfort and confidence. Her community work is a way to create belonging and opportunity. Her story reminds us that success is not only about personal achievement—it’s about paving the way for others. Empowering Others Joanna believes in the power of community. She actively seeks to uplift those around her. By mentoring young people, she helps them find their voice and navigate their paths. This commitment to empowerment is a cornerstone of her mission. Her guiding words, “Creating confident smiles and stronger futures for all,” capture her purpose perfectly. Joanna is proof that even quiet voices can lead powerful change—one smile, one student, and one step at a time. A Supportive Family We love how Joanna showed up to support her mom, Georgina Guerrrero , at our academy! Family support is vital in any journey. Joanna’s relationship with her mother inspires her to keep pushing forward. Together, they embody the spirit of resilience and strength. Building a Brighter Future Joanna's vision for her future in dentistry is not just about personal success. It’s about creating a ripple effect of positivity and change. She understands that every smile she helps create can lead to a brighter future for her community. By focusing on oral health care, Joanna aims to address broader issues of health equity. She recognizes that access to quality dental care is often limited for marginalized communities. Through her work, she hopes to bridge that gap and advocate for better resources. Connect with Joanna You can connect with Joanna here: Joanna Roldan LinkedIn . She is eager to share her journey and inspire others to pursue their dreams. Conclusion Joanna Roldan is a shining example of how determination and community can lead to meaningful change. Her story is a reminder that we all have the power to uplift one another. Let’s continue to support each other in our journeys, creating confident smiles and stronger futures for all!
- A month away! ¡Yo Quiero Dinero!
"I'm a motivational speaker." "I'm a student." "I'm a small business owner." "I'm a trainer." "I love numbers." "I'm trying new things." These are the voices of this year's Yo Quiero Dinero. This year's celebration is very special. This year we have 11 women! Three will appear on a compilation video shown during our intermission. Have you ever tried spinning plates on sticks? How many spinning plates can you sustain without one falling down? I know this might seem like a metaphor out of place, but it illustrates my life as a director of a new organization. I am the head of marketing, lead fundraiser, lead trainer, lead HR, and major decision maker. My world can get really small quickly. This year is very special because we have a number one! I very much appreciate Marta's help in steering the program and providing me direction and collaboration for this year's Voices and Dreams Academy. We have a new employee for our organization. Let me introduce you to Marta Carrion! Who will also be our Yo Quiero Dinero MC for the night! Marta brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from organization to implementation. She is an expert in building community relationships, and we love her at our groups! Marta brings balance to our programming, which centers on the needs of the women in a mindful manner. I'm also grateful for our board, which has gently guided and supported me in increasing our staff and board body. We have been recruiting for our board body, applying for grants and sponsorships, and considering ways to increase our donor relationships. WOW! How many plates can I keep going without letting one drop? That is where you come in, friends. I need your help! These incredibly hard-working, dedicated women are taking the leap and overcoming their fears of public speaking, declaring they want to grow their business or dreams. They are coming on stage on November 8, and we need you to fill the theater! I'm grateful for all of our sponsors and grants! Thank you, Madison Community Foundation, American Family, and Widen Foundation! Without your help, this event would not be possible. - Community Testimonials
Community Testimonials: Blog Report for Our Annual' Yo Quiero Dinero, Our Stories Have Value!' 2025 Dear Community! This is the year Midwest Mujeres begins to walk. I’m incredibly proud of our team and how we are actively incorporating restorative justice into everything we do, from before showday to after. We are becoming dedicated to empowering las Mujeres. Thanks, Satya, for writing this community testimonial blog post for us <3 It’s a dream not to have to create or maintain everything. Marta being part of the event felt like the best decision I’ve made for the organization. We are celebrating our first year!! We are also expanding our board and actively recruiting for another seat. Email us if you are called to uplift ordinary people on an extraordinary journey of perseverance and create community. The women go on podcasts, TV shows, and public radio. Representation matters. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Madison Arts Commission! Without you, our arts community, this would not have been possible! ¡Gracias, MadTown! Araceli Blog After entering the beautiful MYARTS building and making their way to the fourth floor, attendees were invited into іYo Quiero Dinero! Our Stories Have Value. While people waited to listen to 10 brave women share their stories, they enjoyed an array of delicious food from Elotes Raspados "El Chisme" catering and artfully carved watermelons adorned with chocolate-covered strawberries from Artesan Fruit. Almost 200 attendees shared an evening eating together and celebrating the inspiring women on stage. Leading up to the event, Yo Quiero Dinero had 80 participants — both men and women — with childcare provided for 16 weeks (that’s 16 meals and two locations; we even walked to the Square!). Ten women completed over 400 hours of individual instruction and community work, supported by 12 incredible coaches and volunteer educators — professionals in finance, marketing, insurance, mindfulness, writing, voice coaching, and goal setting. Each one brought wisdom rooted in shared experience, reflecting the same communities we serve. This event sparked support from Brian Espinoza, Latino Professional Association Director, who said, “I enjoyed it, the presenters did a good job of sharing their story and growth. I would love to have LPA be a future sponsor to give out free 1-year memberships to the recipients who completed your program.” After the event, Araceli, the founder of Midwest Mujeres, received a call from Dana Maya, local Latina poeta and community organizer for poetry, who shared, “I'm just calling, thinking about you, thinking about the event, which was such a beautiful, powerful success. Felicitaciones! People were so psyched, so emotional~” Because of high demand, we just made our 2026 interest form live! Most of our participants come from direct referrals. SIGN UP OR SHARE! Also, Midwest Mujeres is completing its first year of being a nonprofit. We are growing our board to 5 and would love any referrals!! Thank you to our volunteers, caterers, MyArts Staff, Supporters, and Sponsors who rallied with us! "¡Yo Quiero Dinero! Our Stories Have Value!" Thanks to everyone!
