Meet 2026 Voices and Dreams Academy participant Monica Weitzel

2026 VOICES AND DREAMS ACADEMY PARTICIPANT SPOTLIGHT

“Meaningful connection begins when people feel welcomed, valued, and heard.”

Monica Weitzel is drawn to bringing people together. Her heart is grounded in

community and connections. Across hospitality, community engagement, and digital communication, she has developed a professional path centered on relationships, service, and the belief that connection can create new possibilities.

As a bilingual professional, Monica understands that communication is about more than translating words. It is also about helping people feel comfortable, included, and able to participate. Whether she is supporting a community initiative, communicating online, or welcoming people into a shared space, she looks for ways to make connection feel genuine.

Her participation in the Voices and Dreams Academy gives her an opportunity to reflect on how those experiences have shaped her leadership and the impact she wants to continue making.

Monica Weitzel Creating Connection Through Community. Her leadership is grounded in people

Monica's experience in hospitality taught her to notice what people need, often before they say it. Hospitality requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to make many different people feel welcome. Those skills continue to influence how she approaches community work and professional relationships.

Her experience with community engagement has also shown her that strong relationships do not happen automatically. They are built through trust, follow-through, and a willingness to listen. Monica enjoys connecting people with one another, supporting their ideas and helping create spaces where they can contribute.

For Monica, leadership is not limited to a title. It can look like noticing who has not been included, helping someone feel more confident, or opening a door to a new opportunity.

Communication that builds belonging

Digital communication has expanded the ways communities can stay informed and connected. Monica brings a people-centered perspective to that work. Behind every post, message, or invitation is a person deciding whether a space is meant for them.

Her bilingual abilities help her move between communities and make information more accessible. They also reflect the importance of culture, identity, and lived experience in the way people understand one another.

Monica's strength is her ability to combine communication with care. She is interested not only in reaching people, but in creating relationships that feel meaningful after the first introduction.

Finding new opportunities to grow

Monica describes herself as someone who is always interested in sharing brands and her personal fitness journey. That openness has allowed her professional journey to cross different fields while keeping one purpose at its center: supporting people and building stronger connections. She does that through her social media presence and the engagement she creates.

Through the Voices and Dreams Academy, she is strengthening her public voice and considering how her experiences in hospitality, engagement, and communication fit into a larger leadership story. The program gives her space to practice being visible, name what she has learned, and share why community matters to her.

Her story is still developing, and the most personal parts belong to Monica. What is already clear is that she brings warmth, curiosity, and a commitment to helping others feel that they belong.
