Quiet and Present
Meet 2026 Voices and Dreams Academy participant Jackie Holland
2026 VOICES AND DREAMS ACADEMY PARTICIPANT SPOTLIGHT
“I come from generations of strong women who learned how to endure. My journey is learning that strength can also mean allowing yourself to be heard.”
Jackie Holland has spent more than a decade helping other people navigate change, solve problems, and prepare for difficult conversations. Now, she is turning that same patience and care inward as she learns to trust the value of her own voice.
A bilingual Human Resources leader and PHR-certified professional, Jackie has grown from support-level roles into positions involving employee relations, recruiting, benefits, performance management, training, and leadership advising. She eventually became an HR Director, managed an HR team, and helped guide an organization of more than 200 employees.
Her professional journey reflects her knowledge and leadership. Her personal journey asks a quieter question: What happens when a woman skilled at helping others speak begins to believe her own perspective deserves to be heard, too?
A quiet kind of leadership
Jackie has never needed to be the loudest person in the room. She listens carefully. She notices what others may miss. She works to understand people before responding. Those qualities have helped her build a career centered on trust, empathy, and thoughtful decision-making.
Still, like many accomplished women, Jackie has sometimes questioned whether she belongs at the table. Even with years of experience behind her, self-doubt can make speaking up feel risky. Her growth is not about becoming louder, more extroverted or completely fearless. It is about recognizing that quietness and power can exist together.
Jackie is learning to move from quiet and hiding to quiet and present. That shift may look simple from the outside, but it requires courage: asking the question, sharing the idea and allowing others to hear what she has been holding back.
Redefining strength
Jackie comes from generations of resilient Mexican women. Their strength shaped her, protected her, and gave her an example of how to keep going through difficult circumstances. As she reflects on that inheritance, Jackie is considering how resilience can evolve from one generation to the next.
For her, strength does not have to mean silently enduring everything. It can mean speaking honestly, caring for your body, discussing your feelings, asking for help, and trusting yourself even when insecurity has not completely disappeared.
That understanding is influencing how Jackie sees leadership and how she sees herself. She is learning that confidence does not require becoming someone else. It can grow by accepting the qualities already present and using them with greater intention.
A story is still unfolding for Jackie: A Quiet and Present Latina Leader
Jackie is not presenting a finished transformation. She is still practicing. She is still challenging old messages about her body, her belonging, and the value of what she has to say. She is still discovering what it means to care for herself with the same compassion she offers others.
Through the Voices and Dreams Academy, Jackie is shaping a story about inherited resilience, quiet leadership, and the courage to be seen. Her journey reminds us that transformation is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is the moment a thoughtful woman decides not to silence herself.
Jackie is not becoming louder. She is becoming less afraid of being heard.
About Jackie Holland
Jackie Holland, PHR, is a quiet and present Latina Leader. She is a bilingual HR leader with more than 10 years of experience helping organizations and their people navigate growth, change, and difficult conversations. Naturally quiet and thoughtful, she leads through listening, empathy, observation, and understanding. Her journey is about becoming more confident without becoming someone she is not and recognizing that a quiet voice can still carry power.
It’s been a pleasure working with Jackie on her story and learning about her family’s journey in the United States. Her goal was to get more comfortable and confident in telling her story. She is making an impact, and we look forward to seeing her grow.
