Midwest Mujeres Celebrates Empowerment at Community Event

Ribbon Cutting Event

Midwest Mujeres recently hosted a milestone event that brought together over 30 community members, including past graduates of the Yo Quiero Dinero program, to celebrate and reflect on the organization’s impact. The event highlighted Midwest Mujeres’ ongoing commitment to empowering women, particularly in light of the challenges posed by recent elections. The urgency of this work resonated throughout the event as speakers emphasized the importance of uniting across racial and cultural lines to create lasting change.

Past graduates shared powerful testimonials about how Midwest Mujeres has transformed their lives through its unique blend of support, networking, and entrepreneurial guidance. These stories of resilience and triumph inspired attendees and showcased the organization’s role as a driving force for community empowerment.  




Notable graduates and panelists at our inauguration ceremony included:  



- Gaby Bellen Tellez: A graduate of the Be Bold program, Be a Chingona on LinkedIn, and Yo Quiero Dinero, Gaby spoke passionately about the confidence and skills she gained to expand her career.  


- Andrea White: The External Relations Manager at One City Schools, Andrea highlighted her work in fostering educational equity and how Midwest Mujeres has supported her mission of empowering communities.  


- Tomy Tepepa: A poet, visual artist, and owner of Artesanías Nuestra Cultura, Tomy shared how Midwest Mujeres has bolstered her artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors. She also serves on the board of DAMA (Dane Arts Mural Arts).  


- Aida Leflore: Aida has played a vital role in Midwest Mujeres’ growth, providing crucial accounting support that strengthened the organization’s financial foundation.  


- Veronica Figueroa: A former board member, Veronica reflected on her contributions to shaping Midwest Mujeres’ purpose and audience, helping guide its strategic direction.  


- Paula Steinhorst: As a project management leader at Quartz Health Solutions, Paula shared insights into how Midwest Mujeres fosters strategic alignment and operational excellence among its members.  



Midwest Mujeres founder Araceli Esparza captured the essence of the event: “This event isn’t just about this inauguration ceremony—it’s about opening doors. Midwest Mujeres is a platform where women from all walks of life can find the resources, mentorship, and camaraderie they need to achieve their dreams. This ribbon-cutting celebrates that journey.”  



The gathering was a testament to the organization’s vibrant network. It featured heartfelt testimonials and powerful storytelling from women entrepreneurs, board members, and community influencers. Attendees were inspired by the stories of women who have launched new ventures, overcome personal and professional obstacles, and cultivated financial independence through the support of Midwest Mujeres.  



With its unwavering dedication to empowering women, Midwest Mujeres remains a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change.


Our work in providing unique educational opportunities grounded in Indigenous storytelling practices ensures that women in the Midwest continue to thrive and uplift one another in pursuit of equity and opportunity.
