Latina Community Events in Madison: Fall Events and Cool Collabs
We are celebrating our Latinidad with community, storytelling, and purpose!
This fall, Midwest Mujeres is bringing you four events that kick off and bookend National Hispanic Heritage Month. From cafecito with local Latina leaders to our annual Voices & Dreams Academy graduation and community Día de los Muertos altar, each event creates space to connect, honor our roots, and celebrate our stories.
October 2: Cafecito con Comunidad Latina community events in Madison
We are kicking things off in partnership with the Latino Professionals Association with Cafecito con Comunidad.
Local Latina leaders from different professional and community sectors will share how their culture, families, and lived experiences have shaped their paths. These women have worked to represent the needs of our communities through public service, law, entrepreneurship, financial wellness, and nonprofit leadership.
Join us for cafecito, community vendors, networking, and an honest conversation about heritage, resilience, and leadership.

October 15: Cyber Cafecito and Hispanic Heritage Month Bingo
Our celebration continues online with a special Cyber Cafecito bringing together mujeres from Madison, Milwaukee, Janesville, South Madison, Tejas, and beyond. Another Latina community event in Madison and beyond.
We will play Hispanic Heritage Month Bingo, connect across communities, and introduce members of this year’s Voices & Dreams Academy cohort. This is your opportunity to meet some of the incredible women whose stories you will hear onstage in November.

November 1: Altar Comunitario del Día de los Muertos
Our celebration continues with a community altar honoring the people, memories, and traditions that remain part of our stories.
Community members are invited to remember a loved one, share a story of grief in Spanish or English, or leave a written reflection on the altar. Limited materials will be available, so come early and stay for the show.

November 1: Voices & Dreams Live | Voces y Sueños en Vivo
We will close the day with our annual Voices & Dreams Academy graduation and live storytelling celebration.
This year’s cohort reflects the richness of our community. They are business owners who have led their companies for more than ten years, CPAs, chefs, retired teachers, caregivers, students, social workers, peer-support professionals, mothers, grandmothers, and daughters.
For weeks, these women have reflected on their experiences, strengthened their confidence, and developed their stories alongside coaches, mentors, and one another. Now it is their moment to take the stage and tell us what the American Dream looks like through their eyes.
